XXX - plus five
Well, I think that the "Hooray for 30" train is officially pulling out of the station. I had a fantastic party at my apartment on Saturday night, which was attended with a lot of my personal A-list from LA, and made for a great night. This was the first party at our apartment, which went quite well, and despite lasting until 1am, there were no complaints from the neighbors, most notably "The Hollywood Failure", which is certainly a tale for another day if there is even one request to hear about it.
Heather and I stocked up at Costco at a cost of about $150 on party food, whcih I supplemented at the unbeatable "Food 4 Less" with beer, liquor and some additional items, at further cost of $100. There is so much of all of this stuff left, I think that we're going to have an Oscar party by default just to get through the rest of everything. Fortunately, that airs live here at 5pm, so we'll be able to do some betting. But, the food we did have was great, and readily enjoyed by those in attendance, most notably yours truly. As always liquor and beer were huge hits.
The party was a great occassion whereby I got drunk and talked to a bunch of people who had all turned up to see me. Made it feel like I was still in my twenties. Complaints? Not really. Turning 30 has been a lot of this kind of good-will constantly headed my way, and now, that I'm almost a week into it, settling in to actually being 30, it'll probably just be largely unremarkable, which that's when there'll really be an opportunity for me to delve into the seedy underbelly of what turning 30 is all about, and any thoughts I have for it.
For now, I've got to concentrate on Valentine's Day being tomorrow when I'll delve into the topic more, but for now the problem is that I have nary a reservation nor a gift. BUT... I did bank some points yesterday with an early Valentine's gift of going to see "Lady and the Tramp" with Heather at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood. Damn, they sure knew a lot about the "awwww" factor back then. Well done, Walt. Well done. It'll soften the blow if I just call her tomorrow and say "What do you think about a romantic Valentine's Day dinner at In N Out Burger". Okay, well, I won't be calling to say that, but, it'll only be a step or two above that. And, I mean, I can get away with an appropriate stuffed animal and a card or something, right? Right???
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THIRTY - Does the fun ever stop? (Probably tomorrow)
